Lake George! The lake runs in a Southwesterly to Northeasterly direction between high mountains that in many places end their slopes at the waters edge.

Lake George NY is a small village located on the southern end of the lake. Once known as Caldwell, Lake George Village offers the visitor a large selection of lodging from Lake George motels, hotels and resorts. Around the lake you will find campgrounds & rv parks, boat rentals, restaurants, shops, attractions and vacation rentals. Within a few minutes walk you can enjoy a lunch overlooking the lake, take a cruise, visit the arcades, go water skiing or parasailing or just kickback and work on your suntan.

But Lake George is more, much more. Lake George doesn't just consist of the Lake George Village area alone. Beside the Town of LakeGeorge, the Towns of Bolton, Hague, Ticonderoga, Putnam, Dresden, Fort Ann and Queensbury all border the shores of this large and beautiful lake. Each community with its own unique flavor.

With 176 miles of shoreline you have many choices as to how you wish to spend your Lake George vacation. From camping on an island campsite to landing your first 20lb Lake Trout, hiking Tongue mountain or scuba diving for Lake George diamonds and there is plenty to offer the historically minded visitor as well.

The outlet of Lake George, called the LaChute River, descends 221 feet through a series of rapids and empties into Lake Champlain at Ticonderoga, a descent greater than that of Niagara Falls.
